Jayhawk Drumline Academy

June 14 - 15, 2019

For students entering grades 9 – 12


This workshop is intended for the marching percussionist at any level, from any-sized program.  We invite students and from large and small programs alike!  Entire drumlines are also welcome.  Instruction is available on snare drum, tenor drums, or bass drum.
Sessions will be led by:
Bret Kuhn, guest artist
Ike Jackson, guest artist 
Jeff Smikahl, Director of Bands, Olathe East High School
Alex Vallar, KU Drumline Instructor 
Graham Deckard, KU Drumline Instructor
Sessions run from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 on Friday, and 9:00 to 4:00 on Saturday.  Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, June 14 in Murphy Hall on the KU campus.  More information will be emailed to participants prior to the workshop.
Participants should bring their own sticks, mallets, and instruments.  Instruments will be provided.  Snare drum players should also bring a practice pad and stand, if possible.  
Cost is $125 and includes lunches and a t-shirt.  Please note that this is not an overnight camp and housing is not provided.  Registration deadline is Sunday, June 9.
High school band programs or booster organizations are encouraged to register groups.
