LAWRENCE – The University of Kansas School of Music proudly presents the second performance in the Kansas Virtuosi Series for the 2015-2016 season. The Kansas Virtuosi Series showcases the world-class talents of the KU School of Music faculty artists. The opening concert will take place at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 15 in Swarthout Recital Hall. The event is free and open to the public.
The second concert in the 2015-16 Kansas Virtuosi series will highlight KU faculty, guest artists, and students in a program entitled "Killer B’s: Works of Bach, Beethoven and Brahms." The concert will begin with Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 4, featuring guest violinist Gerald Elias and assistant professor of flute Sarah Frisof. KU Faculty members, Margaret Marco, Stephanie Zelnick, Eric Stomberg, Paul Stevens and Ellen Sommer will follow with Beethoven's Op. 16 Quintet for Piano and Winds, and Julia Broxholm will conclude the recital with a beautiful set of songs composed by Johannes Brahms.
