KU Chamber Winds and Symphonic Band concert to feature visually inspired works on Oct. 22

LAWRENCEThe University of Kansas Chamber Winds, conducted by Paul W. Popiel, director of bands, and the Symphonic Band, conducted by Matthew O. Smith, associate director of bands, will present a concert at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 22, at the Lied Center of Kansas.

The Chamber Winds will begin the program and feature Velocity Meadows, Five Dream Episodes by Christopher Stark, which is designed to be a soundtrack to a silent video that will play simultaneously and features soloist Margaret Marco, associate professor of Oboe. The Symphonic Band will follow and perform pieces by Sir Thomas Beecham, Aaron Perrine, Norman Dello Joio, and David Biedenbender.

Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for children, seniors and students. Tickets can be purchased at the Lied Center Ticket Office, by phone at 785-864-2787 or online at lied.ku.edu.
