The KU Symphony Orchestra welcomes violin soloist for fall concert
LAWRENCE-The University of Kansas Symphony Orchestra will perform its first concert of the season at the Lied Center on Tuesday, September 27, 2011, at 7:30 pm, featuring guest violinist Bella Hristova.
With David Neely conducting, the Symphony Orchestra will perform Concerto No. 2 for Violin and Orchestra in G minor, Op. 63 by Prokofiev featuring Hristova on violin. The concert will conclude with a performance of Symphony No. 4 in F minor, Op. 36 by Tchaikovsky.

About the guest soloist:
Bulgarian violinist Bella Hristova began violin studies at the age of six, and at 12 she participated in master classes with Ruggiero Ricci at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. Since the age of 13, she has lived in the United States, working with Stephen Shipps. She attended The Curtis Institute in 2003 and received her artist diploma from Indiana University in 2010. She has performed with Pinchas Zukerman and the Orchestra of St. Luke’s at Lincoln Center; with Jaime Laredo and the New York String Orchestra at Carnegie Hall; and with David Effrom and Indiana University’s Philharmonic as winner of their 2009 Concerto Competition. She was the first prize winner in the 2008-09 Young Concert Artists International Auditions and was first prize winner in the 2007 Michael Hill International Competition in New Zealand. Highlights from her 2011-12 season include an appearance in Ravinia’s Rising Stars Series, a tour with Musicians from Marlboro and performances throughout the season with CMS Two at Lincoln Center.
